Polish for free with Mowicpopolsku | Mówić po polsku Learn Polish for free with Mowicpopolsku | Mówić po polsku

Polish for Dummies is exactly what it says on the cover. Great for beginners, it provides a comprehensive overview of the language, its grammar, basic vocabulary and sentence structure. I have been taking Polish lessons for several months, and I have struggled at all levels—vocabulary, conjugation, pronunciation, etc. I was hoping this book would serve as a self-study guide to augment the lessons. Jakie pan/pani zna jȩzyki obce? (ya-kye pan/pa-n’ee zna yehN-zih-kee optse) (What foreign languages do you know?) – formal Table 3-4 lists various language forms to use with both mówić (to speak) and znać (to know). I’ve divided this post into different types of resources, from grammar books to courses in colloquial Polish. The title’s a mouthful but the stories in this collection are much more straightforward. True to its name, the stories are simple, beginner-friendly, and take place in familiar settings like offices, homes, and hair salons. I love this little visual dictionary. If you are a visual learner, like myself, it will make a massive difference to how well you can memorise Polish vocabulary. It’s very detailed too, but don’t worry – you don’t need to memorise every single word in each category!

Polish for Beginners to Advanced 18 Best Books to Learn Polish for Beginners to Advanced

This little book has some great tips on how to sound like a ‘real Pole’. It’s a book for beginners and it mainly focuses on developing the learner’s speaking and writing skills. It’s practical and interactive. I’d say it’s a great accompanying book if you’ve already got something that focuses on the intricacies of Polish grammar, or if you’ve got a Polish friend/tutor who can explain such questions to you. Polish your Polish – sharpen your conversational Polish skills with the help of ′Talkin′ the Talk′ dialogues strategically placed throughout the book Why I Wrote This Book Language exposes you to every aspect of the human condition, allowing you to study the past, understand the present and ponder the future. Language sometimes changes the ways in which people express various emotions and conditions. People are connected through their ability to speak, but you can go one step further – to understanding – by being able to communicate in another language. Very few things are as exciting as that! The best way to discover a new language is to immerse yourself in it. Listen to the way Polish sounds, concentrate on the pronunciation and look at how it’s written. By listening and repeating, you enter a new world of ideas and peoples. Acquiring Polish through immersion really does feel like a sort of magic. With easy-to-follow instruction and exercises that give you the language to communicate during day-to-day experiences, readers of Polish For Dummies will learn the words and verbal constructions they need to communicate with friends and colleagues at home, find directions on holiday, and more. Recognising Perfective and Imperfective Verbs Polish has fewer tenses than English, but it doubles up on verbs. Most Polish verbs have developed two forms: The imperfective form of a verb refers to an action that is ongoing, repeating or not yet completed. The perfective form of a verb is used to express a single action or a completed action. So the bad news is that for (almost) every English verb you have two Polish verbs. The good news is that in most cases the two verbs look very similar. Table 2- 3 shows the difference between the imperfective pisać and the perfective

When learning a language, I would probably get one of each and supplement this with online resources, podcasts, films and conversation classes. But the choice is yours! Aside from the tables, the book also features puzzles, self-tests, and other challenges designed to instill a deeper understanding of Polish verbs. There are also lots of examples, plus indexes listing nearly 2,300 verbs.

Case refers to the role a noun, adjective or pronoun plays in a sentence. Many of these roles are crucial for everyday communication and this chapter takes you through them all. Polish has seven cases, both singular and plural, and each of them has a set of endings for each gender. (Chapters 5, 8 and 11 explain the endings of the accusative, instrumental and locative cases, respectively.) There are, however, lots of conversations and phrases included, so don’t worry – you won’t have to memorise hundreds of noun and verb tables. The book teaches you those basics in a more interactive way. If you haven’t learned Polish before, it’s a good place to start.
