They also are the natives unlike in the original tale where there was Tiger Lily and the Indians. I do like that change in the story, so it’s not as problematic. Hook also has a sister named Cherry, who has been a hostage of the Lost Boys for years… though she really doesn’t mind as she is into Vane, one of the Lost Boys and The Dark One of another island. It used to be that the president was the most powerful person in the country. That all changed when Wrath crossed over to our world. Nothing could stop him. Nothing can kill him. Eventually we all bowed at his altar. Xavir Argentum is rotting in gaol. Sentenced to life in the squalor of Hell’s Keep, punishment for an atrocity he didn’t commit, the once legendary commander is all but forgotten. These books are fairly short reads, so you can easily read each of them in one sitting. They do have an enemy-to-lover and reverse harem vibe to them, as well as darker undertones. If you watched or read Peter Pan growing up, you know what Peter Pan was looking for initially. This book is the same thing, but Winne has no idea what he needs her for since her mother never remembered her time with Peter Pan and Lost Boys. She was mad after she was with them. Every Darling ended up the same way, not remembering a thing and never being the same. It’s up to Winnie to not end up like the other Darlings, so she’ll try different tactics than the other Darlings that will confuse all of them.

Even for a man like Landril, who liked to play the long game, the conditions of Hell’s Keep made him feel tense and impatient. The conditions were beyond anything he’d ever encountered previously. And there was still no sign of his quarry. One day bled into another. The ending of this book made me want more of these books due to the dark twists and turns it did, and I’m so glad the next book releases towards the end of April. Overall, this book receives four stars from me.
